Responsibilities
Determining the kind of treatment required to eliminate a particular type of pest.
Advising customers on the kind of treatment required to eliminate identified pests.
Inspecting customers’ premises to identify pest problems.
Communicating with office staff in order to schedule services with customers.
Applying suitable pesticides to infested areas by following the label instructions and complying with safety procedures.
Responding to customers’ requests for various pest control services.
Adjusting chemical mixtures according to the size of the infested areas.
Spray or dust chemical solutions, powders, or gases into rooms, onto clothing, furnishings or wood, and over marshlands, ditches, and catch-basins.
Set mechanical traps and place poisonous paste or bait in sewers, burrows, and ditches.
Inspect premises to identify infestation source and extent of damage to property, wall and roof porosity, and access to infested locations.
Cut or bore openings in building or surrounding concrete, access infested areas, insert nozzle, and inject pesticide to impregnate ground.
Study preliminary reports and diagrams of infested area and determine treatment type required to eliminate and prevent recurrence of infestation.
Direct a assist other workers in treatment and extermination processes to eliminate and control rodents, insects, and weeds.
Measure area dimensions requiring treatment, using rule, calculate fumigant requirements, and estimate cost for service.
Clean and remove blockages from infested areas to facilitate spraying procedure and provide drainage, using broom, mop, shovel, and rake.
Position and fasten edges of tarpaulins over building and tape vents to ensure air-tight environment and check for leaks.
Post warning signs and lock building doors to secure area to be fumigated.
Drive truck equipped with power spraying equipment.
Dig up and burn, or spray weeds with herbicides.
Provide assistance to supervisor in planning new installation and modification projects, preparation of specification, and major projects, applying knowledge of pest control
Provide assistance to colleagues in the department to effectively maintain, and repair equipment, buildings, and municipal properties
Provide support after work hour if required in situations like emergency, workshop, commission meetings, and other company functions
Perform related duties that may be assigned.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED.
Proven pest control experience.
Licensed to perform pest control.
The ability to work in all weather conditions.
Exceptional customer service skills.
